The One With The Ultrasound

I'll post more details in the next post, but I just need to say... we're having a boy! That's it, announcement made. And he is tiny and perfect and looks a bit like daddy (although daddy says he looks a bit like me, but there's no winner to this one until he's born). He's definitely stubborn like daddy, and me, and then some. He wouldn't cooperate and barely let us catch a few glimpses of his face.

Anyway, ultrasound went well, and although it took us forever to actually get in or get anything (from the baby), I have to say the staff there were brilliant. They were so nice and patient and I actually feel bad for them having to stay late to accommodate us. They were really great, and they really did all they could with our unborn stubborn little creep . I got there via Lauren's recommendation and I'd definitely recommend that place to anyone.

The One With 27 Weeks

And we still don't know if it's a boy or a girl. Because, apparently, they don't do ultrasound scans in the midwives clinic in Naas hospital. So for our next appointment, on February 3rd, we're going back to the Coombe. To be perfectly honest, it won't really matter at that stage because by then we will have had our 3D scan in Blackrock clinic (for which we are paying a lovely 195 euro, but it's worth it... I hope). She did tell us everything was grand with the baby, but she really didn't tell us anything we hadn't already known. We have a baby heart monitor at home and can pretty much listen to the heartbeat whenever we want. We can feel the baby whenever he's kicking too, but we did go all the way to Naas to be told everything was grand without an actual ultrasound scan. That's... very reassuring, in the not kinda way.

Either way, I'm posting the heartbeat for week 27. Haven't posted one in a while, as I recently realized... Here it is.

The One With The Quotes

And they say ignorance is bliss…

Me: I can't believe you're going to Paris and you're not going to the Louvre.
Dave: What's that?
Me: You serious?
Chris: Oh, she's gonna kill you now. One of the biggest art museums in the world.
Dave: Huh?
Me: You know… they have pictures there...
Deborah: I went on an art trip to Paris in school once. We went to see the Mona Lisa, I can't remember where…
Me: The Louvre!

Innocence, however, is definitely bliss…

Me: I gotta remember to pick up one of those Santa-looking see-through red chemises.
Eimear: Which ones?
Me: The ones that are reduced to 2 euro. I bought one before Christmas, but it got ruined after the first wash. I promised And I'd get one for next Christmas.
Eimear: Are you sure? Won't you bee too cold sleeping in that?
Me: It wasn't for sleeping…
Eimear: Ah? Oh…
